Using Communities to Find the Answers to Energy Demand Problems

As part of the UK Energy Research Programme a team of us (designers and sociologists) at Goldsmiths, lead by Professor Mike Michael, have been awarded a research grant to better understand “effective, community management of energy and energy regulation”. Our research, entitled Sustainability Invention and Energy Demand Reduction: Co-designing Communities and Practice, will seek to understand how energy technologies and the competencies of people co-emerge during design processes.
